This assignment of copyright document can be used to transfer the rights in one or more copyright works (such as books, photographs, paintings, designs, computer programs and/or musical works) from one person or company to another.
The assignment may be with or without "full title guarantee". Where an assignment of copyright is made "with full title guarantee", then the assignor warrants: (i) that the assignor has the right to dispose of the copyright; (ii) that the assignor will do all that he or she (or it) reasonably can to grant the title purported to be granted; and (iii) that the copyright is transferred free from encumbrances, charges and adverse rights.
As a matter of English law, legal assignments of copyright must be in writing. (It is possible to have an equitable assignment that is not in writing, but this is usually undesirable.)
This template is not designed to be used where there are other intellectual property rights (such as patents or trade marks) involved. Please see our assignment of intellectual property rights document if this is what you need.
